Jim's Place East first began as Jim's Place in Downtown Memphis and has been serving citizens with discriminating tastes for more than eight decades. Jim's Place East has been in its present location, at 5560 Shelby Oaks Dr., since 1976 and has been lauded by local and national magazines for its steaks, charcoal-grilled seafood and authentic selections of Greek dishes.
The Setting
Imagine a respite in the woods without ever leaving the city. Nestled on 2 ˝ acres and surrounded by colorful azaleas and grand trees, Jim's Place East is the perfect choice for a romantic getaway or stress-free dining.
The Food
Consistency and excellence describe the food at Jim's Place East. Many of the restaurant's chefs have been perfecting their skills for more than 20 years. The bread, sauces, desserts and vegetables are made fresh each day while the menu reflects a diversity of selections. At lunch, guests can choose from specialty Greek offerings such as dolmathes (stuffed cabbage with Grecian seasoned beef) to southern dishes, such as chicken-fried steak, and fine dining choices such as filet of trout. At dinner, guests are invited to savor a myriad of flavors from Greek souflima (Greek pork tenderloin) to filet mignon, Norwegian salmon, parmesan chicken and of course, indulgent desserts such as baklava and Lemon Melting Moments. Jim's Place East has a full bar with a fine selection of wines from California, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France and Spain.
